Decision on PTI’s nominee for Punjab chief minister to be announced after parliamentary committee meeting
ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan on Friday said that the match is not over as he arrived at Parliament House to participate in the elections for prime minister.
The PTI leader is chairing a meeting of the party’s parliamentary committee.
“The match isn’t over. Only one part of the dream has been complete,” he said as he arrived.
Imran Khan said that decision on the party’s nominee for Punjab chief minister would be announced after the parliamentary committee’s meeting.
The country’s next prime minister will be elected on Friday during the National Assembly session which is set to be held at 3:30 pm.
While 330 Members of National Assembly (MNA) are expected to cast their votes, the PTI with assistance from its allies has 175 seats.
Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif is also contesting for the coveted post but lost the support of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) on Thursday.
The PML-N leader is expected to receive 97 votes if the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) decides to vote for him.
