KARACHI: Street crimes in the city remain uncontrolled despite the assurances of city’s new police chief Dr Amir Ahmed, reported a local media outlet.
Soon after taking the charge, Dr Amir spoke about increased street crimes and said that such incidents would be dealt with strongly.
Interestingly, just after 48 hours of new police taking the charge, a seven-year-old girl was killed during an encounter between the police and mobile snatchers.
The incident has sent a shockwave throughout the city.
The incidents of mobile snatchings and street crimes have been rapidly increasing with each passing day.
Similarly, on August 4, a family was robbed at gunpoint on the Khayaban-e-Shahbaz Shujaat signal in Defence.
Increasing street crimes and poor law and order situation in the city has resulted in an increased wave of fear among the people. With Eid-ul-Azha around the corner, people fear visiting crowded places.
