ISLAMABAD: The Supreme Court (SC) on Thursday directed the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government to provide details of the expenditures made on the province’s hospitals.

Moreover, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar gave orders for the boards of various KP hospitals to submit performance reports, including details of how the funds were spent.

At an earlier hearing in April, the CJP had remarked that during his visit to KP’s Lady Reading Hospital, he had not seen any improvement.

The top judge had also criticised the KP government and had said that PTI, the ruling party, had made tall claims but failed to construct new schools and hospitals in the province.

Then KP chief minister, Pervez Khattak had told the SC that things had improved in KP after the PTI assumed charge of the province. Khattak had also told the CJP that if he had visited the province four years before the PTI government, he would have recognised the difference that the PTI-led government had made.

The top judge had remained unconvinced.
