ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Syed Khursheed Shah on Thursday reiterated his party’s stance of not supporting Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s (PML-N) Shehbaz Sharif’s bid for premiership.
Shah told reporters that the PPP was not in alliance with the PML-N in Punjab.
“We have told PML-N about our reservations, we are working on [resolving it]. [But] if they don’t change their candidate then we will [make our own] decision,” he said, adding, that if the PML-N does not change its PM candidate then the PPP will make a decision accordingly.
“The final decision will be taken after consultation with PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari and Co-Chairman Asif Zardari,” Shah added.
The opposition alliance had fielded PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif as its candidate for the post of prime minister. He will be up against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan.
