Swabi police on Wednesday registered a Federal Investigation Report (FIR) against Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) of the police for murdering a former Pakistan Air Force official Nooral-Haq in a raid. The protestors began a sit-in on Tuesday which ended after their demands were met.
The negotiations between the protestors and the police took place at Aman Chowk at midnight, where the protestors had placed the dead body demanding that an FIR is registered against CTD personnel.
They had threatened to bury the body at the crossroads.
The raid was led by CTD operations Peshawar SSP Sajjad Khan, who also remained district police officer of Swabi, and DIG Mardan division Mohammad Ali Gandapur.
At the negotiations, the protesters were represented by a jirga comprising Qaumi Watan Party (QWP), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leaders.
Noorul Haq, a retired air force serviceman, was allegedly killed by members of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) on Tuesday morning. A relative of Haq’s had explained that the retired serviceman was asleep at his home at the time when the police killed him in front of his family.
