Six girls killed in Afghanistan blast


KABUL
: Six girls died during an explosion in Afghanistan’s Langhman province on Wednesday morning, TOLO news reported.

According to the local governor’s media office, the blast occurred at 10:30 am when the girls were playing with an unexploded rocket in Alingar district.

The ordnance was placed by the insurgents, the statement added.

Four of the six girls belonged to a single family.

Meanwhile, an attack by the Taliban on a security base on Tuesday night in Northern Afghanistan killed 45 Afghan security forces.

35 Afghan army personnel and 10 policemen were killed in the attack.

Authorities have confirmed the attack but details about casualties have not yet been revealed.
