LAHORE: Lahore Knowledge Park Company (LKPC) on Wednesday confirmed a report published in Pakistan Today regarding its action against the illegal hiring process in the company.

LKPC Communication and Public Relations Senior Manager Farzeen Khan said that the company underwent a comprehensive CM Investigation Team inquiry in late 2016 and the irregularities in the hiring procedure were highlighted in the same probe.

“The rectification measures were immediately taken by the Board of Directors during March 2017. These rectification steps included termination of staff members who were underscored as the upshot of irregularities in the hiring procedure,” she said, adding that the list included Site Supervisor Manzoor Ali, Procurement Deputy Manager Mukhtar Ahmed Joya and others.

It is pertinent to mention here that the then Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the company was also terminated by the competent authority in the backdrop of the same inquiry report. As the discrepancy in the qualification was found, the entire amount paid to Mehwish Rafi, who was appointed as Chief Commercial Officer (CCO), was recovered by the company.

The CM IT investigation report was marked to the anti-corruption establishment (ACE) for further probe. After the recovery of the amount from the former CCO, ACE has dropped the inquiry against the company.

Meanwhile, NAB spokesperson Muhammad Zeeshan has said the bureau was thoroughly investigating the scandal of 56 companies and was in process of compiling data and documents of embezzled money in the hiring process. He said the investigation was underway in this regard and would be completed soon.
