Pakistan celebrated Independence Day on Tuesday with patriotic zeal and fervour as people came out of their houses to celebrate the occasion.

People of Islamabad, however, celebrated the day with littering outside Faisal Mosque.

The pictures circulating on social media showed that people ate and drank on the grounds of the mosque but did not care to clean.

The grounds can be seen full of litter and garbage.

People on social media reacted to the post as one wrote: “دنیا کا سب سے مشکل کام دوسروں کی اصلاح کرنا اور سب سے آسان کام دوسروں پہ تنقید کرنا.

Another wrote: “71 years ago a Nation was searching for a peaceful land now a peaceful land searching for a Nation ( Happy Independence day)”

Presenting a solution to the issue, another user wrote:  Imposing hefty fines on littering can solve this issue effectively. Imposing fines has always been an effective method leading to the fulfilment of civic responsibility in a “patriotic manner”.
