Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman and prime-minister-in-waiting Imran Khan did not bring his national identity card during the voting for speaker and deputy speaker of the 15th National Assembly on Wednesday.
However, Imran Khan was allowed to vote after permission of National Assembly outgoing speaker Ayaz Sadiq.
Meanwhile, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Abdul Qadir Patel complained of the discriminatory behavior as he had forgotten his CNIC and was made to bring it before being allowed to vote.
In response, Ayaz Sadiq said, “Imran Khan asked for my permission to vote. Had you sought my permission, I would have allowed you to vote as well.”
The voting to elect the speaker and deputy speaker of 15th National Assembly was held on Wednesday.
The Members of National Assembly (MNAs) were called to vote alphabetically. The name of PPP Co-Chairman Asif Ali Zardari was called first but he was not present in the House.
Meanwhile, two independent candidates from FATA decided not to vote for anyone.
The elections for the posts were held through secret ballot.
