Hafeez’s ‘happy Independence Day India’ tweet draws ire on social media

Pakistan all-rounder Muhammad Hafeez on Wednesday wished India happy Independence Day on his Twitter handle, while Indian fans thanked him for the gesture, some Pakistani fans were not so happy over this.

Hafeez tweeted: “Happy Independence Day India”.

Thanking the Pakistani batsman, one Indian fan wrote: “Love you sir I am your huge fan from INDIA! best wishes for ur upcoming matches!”

Another wrote: “Dil jeet liya bhai ,”

Recalling 90s, one Indian fans wrote: “hanks hope we’ll an just like the

Wishing peace between both countries, another fan said: “Thank you Hafiz sahab.. may the people of both countries live in peace and love each other.”

Meanwhile, some Pakistani fans, however, were not happy over this gesture by Hafeez and criticised him.

Mentioning that no Indian player wished Pakistan on August 14, one social media user wrote: “Which Indian player wished Pakistan independence day. It’s not that we hate them but we want to be in an equal relationship .. or bhi kar low ipl for b nai khilayen gy”

Another just simple wrote: “BLACK DAY”.

Criticising Hafeez, a fan wrote: “Shame on you Hafeez, Modi wish you independence day ???”

Another Pakistani fan, expressing his anger, wrote: “Ap ko kitne logo ne wish kia tha .india se . .sharam aani chahiey”
