Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) on Tuesday issued a show cause notice to the newly elected Member Provincial Assembly (MPA) in Sindh Assembly Dr Imran Ali Shah for beating up a citizen near Karachi’s National Stadium.
The notice was issued by PTI Karachi Additional General Secretary Sidra Imran which referred to the incident recorded in the video where Dr Imran could be seen thrashing a citizen.
“Your actions are not acceptable as seen in the video, therefore, you are required to present your version in the next 24 hour,” the notice said.
The failure to do so would result in the matter being sent to the disciplinary committee for appropriate action, the notice concluded.
Earlier in the day, Dr Imran thrashed a citizen in the middle of the road which was recorded on the phone, after which the video went viral on the social media.
According to some social media users, Dr Imran had allegedly thrashed the local man who tried to cross MPA’s luxury vehicle, and his guards also abused the citizen.
PTI leader Faisal Vawda had termed this act highly unacceptable behaviour in any case, saying no one is above the law. “I apologise on behalf of my party MPA and rest assured justice will be done and will make sure it’s not repeated again,” he said.
Later, the MPA had also apologised to the victim and public for such behaviour while talking to a private media channel.
