A minor girl became the prey of a bullet during a police shootout in the Akhtar Colony area and lost her life on Tuesday, a private media outlet reported.

The girl was immediately shifted to a private hospital and then to Jinnah Hospital where she succumbed to the injuries.

Jinnah Hospital MLO Dr Zakia stated that the initial post-mortem report suggests that the girl received the bullet in the head. The bullet was of a small weapon, she added. The final report, however, would be submitted after two days.

The police said that their personnel, who were wielding sub-machine guns, were chasing robbers on a motorbike. One of the robbers was shot to death, while two others managed to flee.

The girl was in the back seat of the car when she was hit by the bullet, police said.

A pistol and eight mobile phones were also recovered from the robber, who had carried out multiple robberies, police said.
