CHARSADDA: A Jirga member’s son was among five people killed during exchange of fire at a Jirga on Tuesday, police said.
The incident also resulted in three people sustaining injuries.
To resolve the dispute of injuries to a child in a road accident, a Jirga was held in Battagram Police Station’s jurisdiction in tehsil Shabqadar of Charsadda district.
Armed men opened fire after exchange of hot words during the Jirga. The assailants fled the scene after the incident.
The bodies and injured were shifted to a local hospital but the injured were referred to a hospital in Peshawar due to condition being critical.
The police after registering a case have intiated raids to arrest the culprits.
