RAWALPINDI: Son-in-law of ousted prime minister Nawaz Sharif, Captain (r) Safdar Awan was shifted back to Adiala Jail from Islamabad’s Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences (PIMS) on Tuesday.
On August 9, Safdar was taken to the hospital after he complained of severe stomach ache. He was taken back to the prison after his health improved and was cleared by doctors.
Last week, a medical board of doctors from PIMS said that Safdar had to remain in the hospital so that they could monitor his fitness. An ECG and liver test was used to determine the progress of his recovery.
Safdar is said to be suffering from diabetes and a liver ailment.
He was sentenced to one year in prison by an accountability court on July 6 in connection with the Avenfield apartments reference.
