De-fortify Bilawal House or face legal action, Imran Ismail warns PPP

KARACHI, PAKISTAN, OCT 23: Commuters pass through by blocked street leads toward Bilawal House in Karachi on Tuesday, October 23, 2012. Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) nominee for Sindh governorship Imran Ismail on Monday stated that the party remains with the same vision of demolishing of walls built around Bilawal House for security.

Speaking to the media, Ismail said demolition of the walls is on PTI’s agenda and Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) will be taken on board.

However, he warned that in case no action is taken by PPP, the party reserves the right to resort to legal action.

Previously, PTI leadership had criticised PPP for building walls around the residence, which it says hinders free movement of civilians.

On the contrary, Ismail on Sunday said the party has no intentions of “bulldozing” the Governor House. He said that PM-elect Imran Khan never claimed to ‘bulldoze’ Governor House.

While speaking to media on Sunday, he shared that the Governor House cannot be bulldozed as it is a historical building.

“We will open Governor House for the public but we have to see how it can be utilised. It can be used as an educational institute, university, or art gallery.”

Imran Khan, in one of his rallies, had vowed to bulldoze Governor House whenever he comes into power.
