LAHORE: Punjab Police have registered 106 terrorism financing cases involving proscribed organizations since 2015. 144 suspects have been arrested, 42 of whom were convicted by courts.
These figures were revealed ahead of the reports the provinces are presenting to the United Nations Security Council’s (UNSC) Financial Action Task Force (FATF) on Wednesday, Aug 15.
Since 2015, officials said, 26 accused were convicted of receiving or donating funds and handed more than five years of imprisonment.
The names of organizations proscribed by the UN include Jama’at-ud-Da’wah (JuD), Jaish-e-Muhammad (JeM), Falah-i-Insaniat Foundation (FiF) and Al Qaeda. Pakistan has banned another 54 organizations.
