LAHORE: Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) Secretary General Liaqat Baloch has urged the Kashmiri people and political parties to unite for the protection of Article 35-A of the Indian Constitution that granted certain rights to the Kashmiris.
Talking to a delegation of Kashmiri students which called on him in Lahore on Sunday, Liaqat Baloch said that the present distinct status of Held Kashmir was only because of Article 35-A, but the Indian Hindus wanted to abolish this article through the Indian Supreme Court. As such, he said, the Kashmiris should stand united to protect this article.
He assured the Kashmiri students that the sacrifices of the Kashmiri defers, youth and women against the Indian occupation would not go waste and they would soon get their right of self determination.
Liaqat Baloch, while talking to a delegation of the JI youth, said that the PTI had made tall promises but now it was realising that governance was not easy. He said the country was facing numerous problems and a single leader or party could not steer it out. As such, the national leadership should unite on a national agenda and decide its priorities.
He said that an independent and strong Pakistan could be built only by discarding lavish living, corruption, nepotism and reference and adopting merit and the rule of law.
