Arif Alvi’s name being considered for new president: Imran Ismail

The name of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Arif Alvi is being considered for the post of country’s new president, party’s Sindh governor-nominee Imran Ismail said.

Talking to media on Sunday, he hinted that the PTI Sindh President could be the successor of President Mamnoon Hussain.

Alvi was re-elected to the National Assembly from NA-247 (Karachi South-II) during 2018 general election. In 2013, Alvi was the only PTI member to win a National Assembly seat from Sindh.

Born in 1949 and dentist by profession, Arif Alvi is among the founding members of PTI.

Alvi ran for Sindh Assembly seat from PS-114 (Karachi) as a candidate of the PTI in 1997, but suffered a defeat. He also faced a defeat from PS-20 (Karachi-II) during 2002 elections.

He has served as the secretary general of PTI from 2006 to 2013.

IMRAN ISMAIL NOT TO LIVE IN GOVERNOR HOUSE:

The PTI’s nominee for the post of Sindh governor has stated that he would continue to reside in his personal house while adding that official tasks would be carried out from the governor house.

Responding to a question, Ismail vowed to follow footprints of party’s chairman Imran Khan and stated that he would not take any protocol.

Ismail regretted that he couldn’t meet the delegation of Muttahida Quami Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) due to a delay in the flight.

Ismail revealed that he would carry out his first visit to interior Sindh soon after taking oath. He criticised the Pakistan People’s Party for the poor condition of the masses of the province.
