MITHI: As many as seven infants have lost their lives due to malnutrition in Mithi in the past two days and the number of deaths by food scarcity has reached 12 this month, according to the Mithi Civil Hospital.
According to the health department, the victims include a 12-month-old baby girl and two minor boys. The overall death toll of children in Mithi has risen to 393 in the current year.
Furthermore, over 70 children have also been admitted to six health facilities in the district.
The people of the district have demanded that the Sindh government declare the region as drought-hit and provide emergency relief exercises to the residents of the area, who are migrating with their livestock to areas closer to barrages.
No significant steps have been taken in this regard.
