RDA issues notice to illegal housing schemes

RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi Development Authority (RDA) directed owners of five illegal housing schemes to stop illegal advertisements and developments.

RDA spokesperson Hafiz Irfan said that the notices issued under section of the Punjab Private Housing Schemes and Land Subdivision Rules 2010 to owners of the illegal housing schemes.

The notices issued to Malik Mahboob, owner of the Safari Green Farm Housing Scheme, Colonel Khalid Mahmood Khan, owner of the Mahmood Town, Syed Abdul Wajid/ Brigadier Jawad Ahmed, owners of T&T (extension) on the Defence Road, Malik Fakhruddin, owner of Kohsar (extension) on Taxila Road and Raja Hasan Deen, owner of the Al-Miraj Garden on Chakri Road.

The notice warned that if the development work and advertisement was not stopped immediately, RDA would seal the site offices of the illegal housing schemes in Rawalpindi. RDA advises general public in their own interest that they should not make any investment in any illegal/unauthorised housing scheme, declared illegal by RDA.

Otherwise, they themselves are responsible for their losses. The RDA director for MP&TE also requested the Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO), the Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Ltd (SNGPL) and PTCL, not to extend services to these illegal housing schemes as status of these schemes was un-approved/illegal.

NEW HOUSING SCHEME: The Rawalpindi Development Authority has decided to launch a new housing scheme to resolve the residential problems of the middle and lower classes of the district. Earlier, the initial permission for this housing scheme has been granted in a meeting.

RDA Director General Rana Akbar Hayat said that the new housing scheme will benefit people who have no home. He said that the Nullah Lai, Expressway and Ring Road project were also expected to be approved soon. The RDA officers will play role in assuring removal of the obstacles on way to these projects, he said.

Akbar Hayat gave order to upload all the information regarding RDA on the website. He also directed to upload the details of the government, non-government housing societies and cooperative housing societies which fall under the RDA jurisdiction. The direction was given to the Admin and Finance director to present the pay packages of the employees after revising them on the style of the Lahore Development Authority in the upcoming meeting.
