PTI’s ‘Chaiwala’ MNA turns out to be millionaire

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) MNA-elect and former tea vendor, Gul Zafar Khan, has turned out to be a millionaire.

According to media reports, Khan who hails from Bajaur has declared assets worth millions of rupees with the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

According to documents submitted to the ECP, Zafar owns assets worth over Rs30 million, owns a garment business.

Zafar’s assets increased by Rs 184,000 over a year, the documents showed.

They further stated that Zafar owns immovable properties worth Rs10 million as well as two houses and agricultural land worth Rs12 million.

On Friday, it was widely reported that Khan was a tea seller when he was given MNA ticket by PTI from NA-41 (Bajaur). “This was my job and from here I have been elected as the Member of National Assembly,” he said while talking to media.

He further said that his main target is to bring more young people into politics as there was a restriction on politics in Bajaur mainly due to FCR [Frontier Crimes Regulation].

“The main focus in my constituency will be education and improvement of institutions in my region,” he stated.
