MQM’s Khalid Maqbool, Nasreen Jalil and others declared proclaimed offenders

KARACHI: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) here has declared Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) leader’s Khalid Maqbool, Nasreen Jalil, Khushbakht Shujaat, and Haider Abbas Rizvi as proclaimed offenders in a provocative speeches case.

Farooq Sattar, Amir Khan, Khawaja Azhar-ul-Hassan appeared in court during the course of the case’s hearing pertaining to facilitating the MQM founder’s provocative speech on August 22 and attack on media houses on Saturday.

However, similar to the previous hearing, the accused could not be indicted.

One of the accused, Faisal was not present in court during the hearing due to which he could not be issued a charge-sheet.

The court remarked, “On every hearing, one or the other accused is absent due to which 2 years have passed and no one has been indicted”.

The court warned that if any of the accused is found absent from further hearings then his or her arrest warrant will be issued while maintaining that the accused will be indicted on the next hearing.

The court further then adjourned the next hearing to September 8.
