Much has been said and written about Salman Khan and his love life and his relationship with Bollywood diva Aishwarya Rai, in particular, has enjoyed special attention in the media to date.

While the two actors do their best to avoid one another, Salman recently shared that his fondest memory of the Hindu festival of Navratri was Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam’s song Dholi Taro which was centred around it.

In a recent media interaction when Salman was asked about his fondest memory of Navratri, he replied, “My fondest memory of Navratri is Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam. Dholi Taro.”

What was interesting about Salman’s reply is the fact that in Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Salman shared screen space with his ex-girlfriend Aishwarya Rai Bachchan. The two were rumoured to be a couple at that point. However, they broke up in 2002 after a rocky relationship marked by physical and mental abuse. After the breakup, Aishwarya alleged that Salman used to “harass” her and threatened her on multiple occasions as well.

Navaratri is a nine nights (and ten days) Hindu festival, celebrated in the autumn every year in the honour of the divine feminine Devi (Durga). The festival is celebrated in the bright half of the Hindu calendar month Ashvin, which typically falls in the Gregorian months of September and October.
