Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Asad Umar, a who is expected to be next finance minister, said that for the past three months Pakistan had been running a $2 billion a month current account deficit, according to a local media outlet.
He said, “We are facing a significant current account crisis, it’s well-known and well-document.”
“From the time when the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) came in government five years back, current account deficit of $2bn a year, to a situation where in the last three months we have been running a current account deficit of $2bn a month,” he added.
“This is not sustainable and the most urgent action required of the government will be to deal with this crisis,” he explained. said.
“Imran Khan will stand by the decisions we take and we will not come and say we wanted to do this but did not have control because if Imran Khan does not have control, he would like to go home,” the PTI leader further added.
