ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairperson Imran Khan on Wednesday said that the start of ‘Naya Pakistan’ will be from Punjab.

“We have to provide relief to people of Punjab,” Imran said while addressing a Punjab parliamentary party session in the federal capital.

The prime minister-designate while shedding light on the challenges Punjab has been facing said that he plans to depoliticise the Punjab police and make it autonomous. “We also have to improve schools and hospitals in Punjab. Nation’s money should be spent on improving the lives of people,” he added.

Commenting on PTI’s nominee for Punjab chief minister (CM), Imran said that he will put forward the name of a “corruption-free” candidate. “The nominee will have a clean image with not a single corruption charge against him,” he said.

“You all must support this nominee,” he stressed, adding that his decision will be based on merit and the country’s benefit.

Furthermore, speaking about the recently held election, Imran congratulated his party members on winning a “tough election.”

“Everyone knows that the real battle was fought in Punjab,” he stated while adding that the system of ticket distribution would be improved.

Many party members had protested outside the PTI chairman’s house in Bani Gala over the ‘discriminatory’ ticket allotting system before the election.

“Allotting party tickets was the biggest challenge for me,” he said. “This shouldn’t be a party with nepotism.”
