KARACHI: Sindh Rangers successfully arrested the captor Saleem Shahzad and rescued the hostages without unpleasant incident arising out of the crisis on Tuesday.

Earlier in the same day, a factory worker in City’s Sohrab Goth area had held co-workers hostage by entering in one of the offices with a gun in his hands, creating an environment of fear.

The man, identified as Saleem Shahzad, in a video, had alleged that he has not been paid his salary for the past two months and despite working hard for as many as nine months in total, he has terminated by the owners from his job.

He said that his struggle is not limited to himself, but he has taken this step for others workers too who are working at the factory. The captor said that he wants to file various cases in the Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan so that remedies of his problems could be achieved.

Shahzad stated that the country is not being run in a good manner, and he needs to meet Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa for redressal of his grievances.

According to reports, police was immediately called to get hold of the situation. However, the captor continued retaliating any advance made by police by opening fire due to which the rescue operation was being hindered.

Malir SSP Munir Sheikh had said that demands of the captor would be met if he surrenders to the police and let the hostages walk safe and free from the compound of the area.

Police had claimed that as many as nine employees of the factory’s finance department were being held as hostages.
