Met Office forecasts thundershowers in parts of country

The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecasted rain with gusty winds in several parts of the country, including Lahore, Islamabad and Peshawar.

In its daily weather report, the Met Office said, “Rain-thundershower (with isolated heavy falls) accompanied by gusty winds is expected at scattered places.”

The people Hazara, Kohat, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sargodha, Faisalabad divisions, Islamabad and Kashmir are likely to witness rain on Tuesday.

“Rain-thundershower with gusty winds is expected at isolated places in Malakand, Peshawar, Mardan, Bannu, D.I.Khan, Zhob, Mirpurkhas, Bahawalpur divisions and Gilgit-Baltistan.”

In an earlier release, the Met Office had forecasted that the monsoon will weaken gradually during August, producing less than average rainfall. It will exaggerate the prevailing drought conditions in parts of Sindh and Balochistan.

The PMD also said hot and humid weather is expected elsewhere in the country.
