Imran Khan: A case of mistaken identity

Bollywood actor Imran Khan, best known for his roles in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan has been receiving messages on behalf of Pakistan’s PM-in-waiting Imran Khan.

Pakistanis believing Imran’s Instagram account to be that of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf’s Chairman Imran have been directing their woes and requests to the actor, who then shared them on social media with witty captions.

An Instagram user expressed his wish to join Imran’s team from the “very first day.” His message read, “Dear Prime Minister Imran Khan sahib, a successful leader takes right decision at right time. He recognises true friends and supporters and selects faithful team members. Now it is ten years long governance and I want to join your team on the very first day.” The user continued his message his Urdu and congratulated Imran for winning the elections.

In response to this, Imran [Bollywood] wrote, “I guess I can no longer ignore the call to action. Gonna start drafting some policy outlines this week, I’ll keep you guys updated.”

Another user, hailing from Bannu requested the to-be prime minister to take action against an SHO for taking bribes and torturing ordinary citizens. Sharing his message on Instagram, Bollywood’s Imran wrote, “I’m not sure what you heard, but I really don’t have the authority to take strict action on this.”

Imran Khan is incidentally also the nephew of Bollywood actor Aamir Khan, who was rumoured to have been invited to the oath-taking. However, Khan refuted the rumours and said that he will not be attending Imran’s oath-taking. Nonetheless, Aamir previously said that he will definitely visit Pakistan when Imran becomes the prime minister.
