Unblemished China

A nation’s culture resides in the hearts and in the soul of its people”

So many are terming it as the biggest political development of the decade in our part of the globe, and why not, it surely has filled the right vacuum. When was the last we can say we witnessed a political event truly symbolic and significant as that held in the Communist party convention in China few months back endorsing President Xi Jingping’s vision of for China? The event, its magnitude is far more than what is being registered on the Pakistani media. The event and its outcome and repercussions are expected to impact not only on the entire world in the next five years but also on the Pakistani political, social and economic landscape for many years to come.

How will China set itself up on the world political scene and how will the future of the economic world be changed with China, how will the China spread its cultural hegemony and pursue its economic ambitions? These are not questions rather these are some of the high points of the recently concluded session of the communist party week long session. The landmark success for the president comes with the fact that his name and the doctrine has been infused in the “red book” constitutional philosophy along with that of great Chinese leader Mao. However the response, analysis of Pakistan’s media intellectuals, analysts, and policy makers has been “apathetically” and understandably “disappointing”.

Understanding the significance of the endorsement

As a starting step it is important to note that President Xi Jingping earlier five-year term as president has paved way for immense success for Chinese government in the political area and led to economic prosperity for China as whole. If not restricted by word limits in this article, it would surely have covered how brilliantly China is poised for the next 10 years. The Communist party convention in short has endorsed President Xi for the next five-year term due to his successful policies and vision. Despite a global slowdown and political, military challenges elsewhere, China has held a vision, commitment and focus which according to the communist party and independent analysts, parallel none other. The achievement and party endorsement has silenced the critics if any, and reduced the ambitious political rivals to none. These make it two achievements in a row. The third being that the Communist party has given President Xi a nod that according to some may set him up for a third or even fourth tenure as president. Once again something this reflects at the stability of policy paradigms, continuity of the strategy of the Chinese communist party and of the government.

The great ball has been set rolling and it is now called the entry of the big giant ie China to claim its mark as the next super power of the world. Even since the American President Donald Trump has turned his face away from world to focus inwards, the vacuum has been carefully gauged by China. The communist party is thanking the Chinese Premier President Xi Jingping for focusing on key economic model and not drifting hastily into political mess which was result of half thought, half baked American policies. The success in economic front, commitment, focus, vision, resolve of President Xi Jinping is what led the believe that the next five years, China will now enter political scene and mark its hall as the next super power of the world.

The important aspect is how China has learnt to adopt and steadfastly pursue policies under a remarkable leader, President Xi Jingping

Brilliantly poised for the future – China reaffirming its ambitions

President Xi Jingping’s achievement was even more compelling than the one mentioned above. Complete faith in the leader Xi Jingping led to another achievement which was to give his vision, philosophy will be leading thrust for the next five years to come. Along with the philosophy China will change we know today. Not many realise that there is going to be repercussions in four main areas for the Chinese government. First, the economic focus will now be heightened and more push for international business. Second, the economic recovery will not pursued at the cost of basic communist philosophy. This approach to revert back to basic communist aspects is going to be critical as capitalism will be under greater scrutiny and checks in the coming years. Third, the diplomacy will change and role of the China on an international politics will be dealt with a broader, well defined, and focused approach. In short we will see and hear more China in important situations than before. As it was clearly laid out that China is setting itself to be the dominant super economic and political power in the next 5-10 years which means that China will now start put its weight behind international events, and decision. Fourth and most strategic change would be build up of the armed forces. The army will now be corner stone of the world political strategy. The presence and significance of the armed forces will not only continue but it is possible that China may apply for providing forces and the use of Chinese forces to strengthen key focused areas like neighboring CPEC, Sri Lanka, Middle East, and South China sea cannot be ruled out. Fifth and perhaps most significant of all, China will spread its cultural message, history and social aspects in coming years. This has been reiterated and set in the Communist party message and philosophy. Many in Pakistan have argued to utter disappointment that the cultural infusion and invasion of west of other countries is not a significant issue. If Chinese communist party has made it an important missing link or critical aspect to enable it to achieve status of super power, then surely the argument for cultural protection, awareness and identity, stands. China in the next five years will promote its cultural heritage and spread it far more than ever before.

The important aspect is how China has learnt to adopt and steadfastly pursue policies under a remarkable leader, President Xi Jingping. Without mixing it with popular politics, Pakistan should understand the significance of steady policies, workable economic models and the part that the next time, if you are not ready to jump on the “bandwagon”, it will not wait.
