OGDCL to probe executive for alleged corruption, irregularities 

ISLAMABAD: Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) Managing Director Zahid Mir on Monday ordered inquiry on the allegations of alleged corruption and misuse of power in OGDCL, sources said.

In this regard, a three-member committee has been constituted and the decision has been taken after the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) and the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) initiated probe after allegations of alleged corruption of Rs500 million in the department.  The committee has started an investigation after collecting relevant documents from a private company to bring looted money to the national exchequer from former additional secretary information Ziaur Rehman.

Zahid Mir told Online that the department has formally started an investigation into the financial scam of Rs500 million. He said all possible resources would be utilised to bring the looted money back to the exchequer.

He said that the committee initiated an investigation after FIA and NAB had started investigations. FIA has decided to collect evidence from OGDCL, he maintained.

According to details, with the support of OGDCL General Manager Rafiq Mughal, former secretary Ziaur Rehman, after his retirement, launched a private company. Rafiq not only registered the company over fake documents but also issued a contract worth Rs500 million to shift rug machines.

Whereas according to available documents, the company neither has machinery nor the human resource. Shifting of machinery is impossible without trailers but the company does not own any heavy transport system. The contract money was later distributed among the officers of OGDCL.
