WASHINGTON: A member of the United States Congress, Sheila Jackson Lee, felicitated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over victory in the general elections.
In a telephonic conversation, she expressed best wishes for Khan who is posited to become the 21st prime minister of the country.
She expressed a desire to visit Pakistan with a delegation after formation of the government. Lee said that the US fully supports and will cooperate with the new government.
The PTI leader thanked the US congresswoman for her good wishes and welcomed her desire to visit Pakistan.
PTI claimed to have reached a simple majority with over 170 seats in the lower house of the parliament with the support of independent members and allies and is in a comfortable position to form the government at the federal level.
Further, PTI is in a comfortable position to form their government in Punjab and KP; however, the party is still undecided about who would be filling in the position of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister. So far, the top choices are Parvez Khattak and Atif Khan.
Similarly, the decision of as to who the Punjab chief minister will be is still pending.
Aleem Khan, Yasmin Rashid, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Mian Mehmood ur Rashid, Mian Aslam Iqbal and Fawad Chaudhry are said to be contending for the top provincial office.
