40,000 POs were taken hostage during General Elections 2013: Arif Alvi

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Arif Alvi on Sunday claimed that as many as 40,000 presiding officers (PO) were taken hostages in General Elections 2013.

He made the claim during a talk show on a television channel.

The senior PPP leader while commenting on rigging in the recently held elections said that not even a single polling agent was pushed out of the polling booths. He further added that PTI was confident of securing 10 to 11 seats of National Assembly (NA) from Karachi.

“The masses of Karachi have expressed full confidence in PTI,” he said while appreciating efforts of police and rangers in bringing peace to the metropolis.

IN response to a question about approaching International Monetary Fund (IMF), Alvi reiterated that PTI has not ruled out any options to re-function the crippled economy. He also rubbished U.S. concerns, terming US secretary of state’s remarks as absurd.

On revenue target, Alvi termed reforms in Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) indispensable.
