Police Martyrs Day: Punjab IGP says fallen heroes ‘pride of police’

LAHORE: In his message on the National Police Martyrs Day, Punjab Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr Kaleem Imam said that police personnel have embraced martyrdom and sacrificed their lives to make the country a citadel of peace, adding that the fallen heroes are “pride of Punjab police”.

He also said that the nation remembers the sacrifices made by police personnel.

“The police force and other law enforcement agencies are fully engaged in eradicating internal enemies,” he added.

IGP Imam left flowers and lit candles at Yadgar-e-Shuhada following which he spoke to the media and said that policing is not just a profession but also a sacred mission, which the force members will continue until their last breath.

Punjab’s top cop also said that the sacrifices of 1,400 police martyrs were not in vain.

Speaking about problems of the families of the martyrs, the IGP said that it was his prime responsibility resolve their issues.

Lahore Operations Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Shehzad Akbar, Investigation DIG Syed Khurram Ali Shah and Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Asad Sarfaraz were also present on the occasion.

Moreover, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Police will also present a guard of honour at the graves of martyred police officers across the province including that of former Frontier Constabulary (FC) commandant Safwat Ghayur.
