ISLAMABAD: Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari after consultation with party leaders has given an approval of Khurshid Ahmed Shah’s name to contest as National Assembly (NA) speaker.
Spokesperson to the PPP chairman, Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar in a statement said that PPP, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA), Awami National Party (ANP) and other parties had decided to field candidates jointly for prime minister, speaker and deputy speaker NA. According to the decision, candidate for the post of PM would be from PML-N, while a speaker will be from PPP and deputy speaker from MMA.
Mustafa Nawaz Khokhar also said that PPP, despite all reservations about rigging in the elections, has decided to go to the parliament and fight for the cause of democracy. “The PPP leadership united all democratic forces and is committed to strengthening parliament,” he said.
He said that the opposition will compete with each and every PTI candidate for every post.
