Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader and former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) chief minister Pervez Khattak on Friday tendered a public apology for making derogatory remarks against his political opponents while electioneering for the 2018 general polls.

“I have also apologised before a court for the statements I made during my election campaign,” said the PTI leader in a video statement, making rounds over mainstream and social media.

The former KP CM has clarified that he only wanted to “point out social flaws” and did not intend to hurt anyone’s sentiments. “Buying and selling people’s votes is also a part of the social defects,” he added.

“However, I apologise if anyone’s sentiments are hurt by my statement.”
