Plea seeks disqualification of PTI’s ‘absconder’ MNA

KARACHI: An application has been submitted with the returning officer seeking the disqualification of newly-elected Member of National Assembly (MNA) Muhammad Aslam Khan from NA-254, reasoning that he has been absconding is a case.

In a plea, Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Sheikh Salahuddin asked the returning officer to stop the final notification of winning candidate from NA-254 and disqualify Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Aslam Khan.

Aslam Khan is an absconder in 1997 customs court case and he concealed the facts and is not sadiq and ameen, Salahuddin added, arguing for the disqualification.

The returning officer in reply to the application said the results have been dispatched to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).

Speaking to media, Salahuddin said that the plea seeking Aslam Khan’s disqualification has also been submitted in the court and he will file an application with the ECP.

PTI’s Aslam Khan had won the elections in NA-254 by securing 75,702 votes against 48,813 votes of Salahuddin in the July 25 polls.
