PTI seeks BNP-M’s support in Centre

–BNP-M chief says will decide to join Balochistan coalition govt after consultation with MMA

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) delegation on Thursday met with Balochistan National Party-Mengal (BNP-M) chief Sardar Akhtar Mengal at Balochistan House to seek his party’s support in the Centre.

PTI leaders, including Naeemul Haque and Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind, were part of the delegation who met with Mengal. Moreover, according to media reports, PTI invited him for a one-on-one meeting with the party’s chairman, Imran Khan.

Earlier on Tuesday, the BNP-M had announced that two committees were formed to negotiate with parties which had representation in the Balochistan Assembly. This was done to get the support for the office of chief minister.

The BNP-M secured seven provincial assembly seats and three National Assembly seats in the July 25 polls.

Separately, the BNP chief said his party would decide to support the Blochistan Awami Party (BAP) in formulating the provincial government after consultation with its coalition partner, the Mutahidda Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).

Speaking to media after meeting the leadership of BAP, he said BAP President Jam Kamal had invited him to join the coalition government in Balochistan; however, the final decision in this regard would be taken after consulting the MMA leadership.

He said the joint parliamentary committee of MMA and BNP would meet in Quetta on Friday (today) to finalise the terms and conditions of joining after holding negotiations with other political parties.

Mengal also said that he had already handed over a booklet highlighting the important issues of Balochistan, especially the missing persons’ issue, to the leadership of BAP for resolution on priority.
