LHCBA demands increase of judges in Rawalpindi bench

RAWALPINDI: The Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) here on Tuesday demanded to increase the strength of the judges in the Rawalpindi bench.

Addressing a press conference, former LHC judge and LHCBA President Hassan Raza Pasha along with General Secretary Hifza Bukhari said that LHC Rawalpindi bench was facing a shortage of seven judges which should be fulfilled at the earliest as the litigants were facing numerous problems as a number of cases were increasing day by day in the court.

Due to the shortage of the judges, every judge has a cause list of around 250 cases on the daily basis which was impossible for them to hear all in time, he said. Hassan Pasha demanded that Mianwali, Khushab, Sara-i-Alamgir and Kharian areas cases be linked to the Rawalpindi bench as it becomes difficult for the said areas residents to go to Lahore.

He urged the Chief Justice of the Lahore High Court to consider their demands on priority so that litigants could get justice in time.
