ISLAMABAD: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) submitted a petition before the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) on Monday, calling for a vote recount in Karachi’s NA-239 constituency.
MQM-P’s Khawaja Sohail Mansoor lost the elections to PTI’s Muhammad Akram on the seat.
In its application, the MQM-P maintains that the difference of votes between the winner and runner-up is 366 votes while the rejected votes in the constituency are 3,281.
The notification declaring the PTI’s Ikram Cheema victorious should be stopped, says the MQM-P.
Advocate Khawaja Naveed Ahmed and Advocate Dr Mehfooz Yar Khan submitted the petition.
