LAHORE: Muhammad Jamaluddin, a representative of the Muttahida Majlis-e-amal (MMA) has retained his NA-49 seat (South Waziristan 1 Tribal Area) after a vote recount.
He defeated Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) Dost Muhammad Khan with a margin of more than a thousand votes, receiving 7,794 as compared to Khan’s 6,606 votes.
Similarly, MMA candidate Anwar Hayat Khan retained his victory from PK-93 (Lakki Marwat 3) after PTI’s Tariq Saeed was defeated in a recount.
Results from NA-106 (Faisalabad-6), NA-108 (Faisalabad-8) and NA-140 (Kasur-4) are also being recounted.
Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) candidate Syed Ali Moosa Gilani, who lost of PTI’s Zain Qureshi, has boycotted the vote recount from NA-157 (Multan- 4). Syed Abdul Qadir Gilani, his brother, has also boycotted the vote recount from NA-154 (Multan-1). The brothers have chosen to resolve the matter in court.
On the other hand, Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N) leader Khawaja Asif also retained his seat from NA-73 (Sialkot-2) after recount.
