GHOTKI: Sardar Ali Muhammad Mahar, an MNA-elect from NA-205, Ghotki, has decided to join the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) which is poised to form the government at the federal level.
Mahar, who contested the election independently, will formally announce his decision to join PTI after a meeting with prime minister-in-waiting Imran Khan. He is said to have set out for PTI chief’s Bani Gala residence for the purpose.
According to reports, PTI vice chairman Shah Mehmood Qureshi and party leader Arif Alvi contacted and convinced him to join the party.
Mahar served as Sindh chief minister in 2002 and was previously a member of the National Assembly.
A day earlier, independent candidate Saleh Muhammad, who won the election from National Assembly constituency NA-13 (Mansehra-I) by securing 109,282 votes, also joined the PTI.
