RAJANPUR: A 15-year-old boy on Sunday drowned to death while trying to take a selfie in the Matkhand area of Rajanpur.

According to the details, the deceased, Ali Tariq, was trying to take a selfie by a stream along with his brother and friends when he and his brother slipped and fell into the water. His friends managed to save one of them as the gushing water swept Ali away soon after the fall.

A rescue team arrived at the spot and fished out the body after eight-hour long efforts.

Ali was a resident of Lahore and had come to Rajanpur to spend summer vacations at his uncle’s house. The body is in police custody and will be handed over to the heirs after medico-legal formalities.

It merits mention here that the tragic incident isn’t the first of its kind as last month a young man from Karachi had drowned in a river in Swat while trying to take a selfie.
