LHC disposes of plea for protection of Abid Boxer

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Friday disposed of a petition filed for the protection of former police inspector Abid Hussain alias Abid Boxer.

The court disposed of the matter after a counsel sought permission to withdraw the petition on behalf of Abid Boxer, who was also present in the court.

Justice Muhammad Anwaarul Haq heard the petition seeking directions for protection of former police inspector.

Jaffar Rafi, father-in-law of Abid, had filed the petition submitting that Abid was arrested with the cooperation of Interpol in Dubai. He submitted that Boxer’s life was in danger and he might be killed in a “fake encounter” by police. The court was requested to summon the record of cases registered against him besides plea for protection of former police inspector.

The former inspector was considered an “encounter specialist” and had been on the run for the last several years.

It is pertinent to mention here that Abid had got interim bail from sessions court in ten different cases.
