ISLAMABAD: Islamabad High Court’s (IHC) Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui asked the Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) to ask for the record that details the expenses incurred on the maintenance of official residences alotted to all superior court judges.

In a first, the SJC on Monday will commence an open hearing of the reference against Justice Siddiqui.

The reference, which was filed by a retired Capital Development Authority (CDA) employee, alleges that the IHC judge spent more money on his official residence’s refurbishment than allowed.

Justice Siddiqui has also requested the council via letters to summon information and documents that he may use in his defence, saying that it was difficult for him to get hold of such information on his own.

This information includes total expenditure on the official residences of the superior judges, houses owned by superior judges but declared as official residences and a list of judges who had official residences but kept receiving house rent allowance.
