The election fever doesn’t appear to be subsiding anytime soon and as the Hum Awards gear to take place on Saturday evening in Toronto, people continue to remain outraged with the stars who skipped their civic duties and flew to Toronto a few days before the awards for the rehearsals.

Several actors including Ahmed Ali Butt, Yasir Hussain and Saheefa Jabbar Khattak defended themselves and their colleagues but the public was not buying any of their explanations and justifications.

The latest to defend this action is designer Feeha Jamshed, who is also a close friend of Mahira Khan.

Jamshed said,”…giving a progressive, softer image of Pakistan that our politicians, new or international media [fails] to do is also a civic duty, adding that participating in “cultural trade between two countries… so that the expat community can see what we have achieved with such little resources” is also a form of civic duty.

In her note, she emphasises that voting doesn’t entitle us to judge other people and we should, in fact, question the people around us in Pakistan who didn’t vote about why they failed to do so rather than the stars who had flown out of the country to work.

She said all those working in the industry wear Pakistan like a badge of honour and should be cut some slack.

Lastly, she “commended” all those [Vasay Chaudhry, Bilal Khan, Hamza Ali Abbasi, Mawra Hocane] who voted and then went to Canada for the awards.
