Ayaz Sadiq says ECP ‘biased’ against PML-N

ISLAMABAD: National Assembly Speaker and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Sardar Ayaz Sadiq on Saturday accused the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) of being biased against his party, calling the attitude of the chief election commissioner (CEC) “regrettable”.

Speaking to reporters outside the ECP office, Sadiq said that CEC Sardar Raza Khan did not even respond to his call and left his office without meeting the party representatives.

“I am still the National Assembly speaker,” he said during a press conference in which he was flanked by former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and party spokesperson Marriyum Aurangzeb.

On the other hand, ECP spokesperson Altaf Khan said that the NA speaker came to visit the office as a representative of his party, adding that the ECP chief went back home early due to the absence of other members.

“We have received all requests and complaints on voting,” he said. “We won’t be influenced or pressurised by the tactics being adopted by the PML-N.”
