LAHORE: The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) on Friday was ordered by the Supreme Court (SC) to auction its land while the top court heard a case regarding encroachment on the authority’s land.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Mian Saqib Nisar had taken a suo motu notice of 22 encroachments on land owned by LDA in various parts of Lahore.
LDA Director-General (DG) Amna Imran Khan was instructed by the SC to present terms and conditions of the auction process before the top court on Saturday.
Moreover, the CJP also directed the authority to auction the land at reasonable prices and ordered it to submit the auction’s report to the SC.
“The lease fee was Rs3,000 before it was increased to Rs15,000,” the top judge noted.
Furthermore, LDA was also directed to complete the auction within 15 days after the terms and condition were approved by the top court.
