QUETTA: Pakhtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) Chairman Mahmood Khan Achakzai on Friday rejected the election results and said that the worst example of rigging has been set in the history of Pakistan in the 2018 General Elections.

He expressed these views in a press conference in Quetta Press Club on Friday. On the

occasion, former provincial members Rahim Ziaratwal, PkMAP Provincial Secretary Usman Khan Kakar, Liaquat Agha, former senator Rauf Lala, Quetta Mayor Dr Kalim Ullah, Pishin District Chairman Mohammad Isa Roshan and the Party’s sole elected member of the provincial assembly Nasirullah Khan Zarai were also present.

Mahmood Khan Achakzai demanded the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to carry out biometric verification of the votes casted at 10 to 12 polling booths as notified by PkMAP. He said that if biometric verification proves that no rigging was done, his party will accept the results.

He said that he would go to prison to meet Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif.

Achakzai said that his forefathers had wrestled for the endurance of democracy in the country. He said that despite presence of difference of opinion, he never criticised his opponents.

“Our forefathers and we have always struggled for one man one vote mandate and this is our history and investment, we clamp no bank accounts,” he said.

He said that ECP has failed to conduct transparent, free and fair elections in the country, although it was provided with around Rs20 billion of funds by the parliament and is considered as one of the most powerful autonomous election body in this whole region.

The PkMAP chairman said that the sovereignty of the constitution should be maintained in every situation.

“We will definitely protest against elections but will not use abuses nor will go beyond the constitution,” he said.

He said that state institutions should work in their own domains to save the country.
