Politicians present manifestos at Youth Vote Conference in Karachi

KARACHI: Youth Parliament (YP) the other day organised Youth Vote Conference to educate, encourage and motivate youth to use their right to vote and to vote right candidate and bridge gap between youth and candidates contesting in the general elections of 2018.

The conference was held at a local hotel which was graced by several political leaders and nominated candidates for the general election.  All the candidates presented their manifestoes in front of youth. The event also included segments in which critical questions on candidates’ past progress and future plans were asked by the young people.

Speaking at the conference, Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Rana Mashood said, “We focused on education and provided laptops to 10.5 million students, initiated youth policies and educational scholarships”

The programme was also attended by several independent candidates including Jibran Nasir and Aamir Nawaz Waraich. “My motive is to keep religion away from politics and serve each and every person of my constituency belonging to any religion, caste and creed,” said Jibran Nasir.

Fauzia Kasuri represented Pak Sarzameen Party (PSP) and while addressing youth, she said the way our party chairman served Karachi and changed the infrastructure of the city as mayor, now he will serve Sindh in the same way.

From Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Najeeb Haroon, Dr Imran Shah and Khurram Sherzaman participated in the discussion “KP opposition also praised the performance government in the province in education, health and police system sectors,” said Khurram Sherzaman.

Answering to a question, PTI founding member Najeeb Haroon said that his party’s motive is to finish the culture of nepotism.

While giving an introduction of Grand Democratic Alliance (GDA), Zakaria Hussain said they had nominated 34 candidates from Karachi who have sustainable plans for the betterment of their constituency in the sector of education.

Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan’s (MQM-P) leaders Khawaja Izharul Hassan, Ali Raza Abidi and Tanzeel Rauf Parker were also present.

“Youth must come out and vote in general elections. MQM-P has given an opportunity to young people on merit in election and Tanzeel is an example of it,” said Khawaja Izaharul Hassan.

“Even without authority, we served the city which includes our cleanliness campaigns, plantation and parks maintenance,” said Ali Raza Abidi.

Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA) leader Zahid Saeed said, “None of the members of our party is involved in any corruption, crime in the past or present. We truly believe in law abiding politics.”

Pakistan People’s Party leader Aziz Memon said, “We have served in the health sector. We have made hospitals in interior Sindh,”
