KARACHI: A seminar regarding the transgender community’s visibility was organised by the Gender Interactive Alliance (GIA) and the Free and Fair Election Networking (FAFEN) and the appointment of 125 members of the transgender community for electoral monitoring was hailed as a positive step towards transgender visibility.
Shehzadi Rai said that the move to appoint transgender persons for election observation was a huge leap forward in regard to the promotion of transgender visibility and their inclusion into the democratic process.
NCHR Representative Anis Haroon said, “It is a great accomplishment for the transgender community to get formal recognition as a community in such a short span of time.”
